Monday Feb. 24: Houston Rockets @ Boston Celtics:
Chris Says: This should be a very interesting game. Houston (29-26) has lost 6 of their last 9 as All-Star Guard Steve Francis sat out the last game due to a sore back. But in his previous 4 games, Francis shot a miserable 20-63. Francis is questionable for this game. Yao Ming has been averaging a double-double with 10.4 rebounds and 16.4 points over his last 5 games, which should be a factor as Boston has no real contender at Center. Boston (31-24) has won 5 of their last 7, although 4 of the wins were against sub-.500 teams. Boston will be led by Guard Paul Pierce who has had a double-double in his last 3 games. Boston is coming off 3 days rest as this will be Houston’s 3rd game in 4 days. Houston won their last battle on January 13, 2003, as Francis had 26 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds. This will be a tough game for Houston to win if Francis sits out. Especially since the Rockets are 9-16 on the road and the Celtics are 17-9 at home. Look for a Celtic victory.

Lucas Says: Hard to say who wins this game. The Rockets should handle the Celtics, except that Steve Francis is a question mark for the game. Franchise missed the Rockets game Feb. 22 with a strained lower back and will be evaluated Feb. 24. If Stevie Franchise does play, expect the Rockets to overwhelm the Celts. The Celtics don't have an answer for Yao Ming and if Glen Rice can give another performance like he did the other day, knocking down seven three pointers, the Rockets should cruise to an easy victory. However, the Celtics do have Paul Pierce, who can flat out play the game.Pē is one of the best shooting guards in the East. They also have Antoine Walker, one of the more overrated players in the NBA, all he really does is: refuse to pass, stand around at the three point line waiting for someone to pass to him, and take up space. That is just about it as far as their players go. They had that combo of two shooting guards playing point guard, until the traded one and now they have only one unnatural point guard playing the position. In closing, the Rockets will definitely pull it out if Stevie Franchise plays, if he doesn't, they will lose the leadership they need and probably the game as well.

Overall: Split Decision

Tuesday Feb. 25: Detroit Pistons @ Sacramento Kings:
Tom Says: Detroit will be coming into this game after playing Seattle. So they will be a little exhausted from that game. Sacramento is a very good team and they are currently seeded 2 in the western conference. Detroit on the other hand is seeded number 1 in the eastern conference. These two teams have almost identical records. It is going to be a great game that will be a very exciting game to watch. Even though Detroit is number 1 in the eastern conference, I am going to have to say that Sacramento wins this one.

Lucas Says: The Kings are one of the best teams in the West and therefore in the League. Problem being, Detroit is the best team in the East. They have solid defense in most of their players, especially from Ben Wallace, arguably the best defensive big man in the game. They also have good offense with players such as Chauncey (that is seriously his name) Billups and Rip Hamilton, one of the most underrated players in the game. The Kings have an excellent team also, with Mike Bibby, Doug Christie, Peja Stojakavic, Chris Webber, and the list goes on. The problem is that Chris Webber just returned from injury and is probably not at 100% yet, plus they are still missing center Scot Pollard, a defensive key for the Kings. In the long run though, it just doesn't seem like the Pistons can match the Kings offensive juggernaut and depth, expect the Kings, but it'll be close, less than ten.

Overall: Unanimous - Kings Victory!

Wednesday Feb. 26: Indiana Pacers @ Boston Celtics:
Chris Says: Indiana is tied for second place in the East with an overall record of 37-19 and 13-16 on the road. Boston is fourth in the East with an overall record of 31-24 and 17-9 at home. Indiana has lost 4 straight including road losses at Memphis and Atlanta. Boston has won 5 of their last 7, although 4 of the wins were against sub-.500 teams. The series between the two is split this season, both teams winning at home. Look for big games from Pacers Center Jermaine O'neal, who is averaging 19.7 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game on the season, and Boston Guard Paul Pierce, who averages 26.4 points per game this season and has a double-double in his last 3 games. This should be a good game to watch, but I am sticking with the home team. Look for a close Boston victory.

Tom Says: This will be yet another great game played this week. Paul Pierce has been a real threat to teams that play the Celtics. He averages about 26.4 points a game. Indiana hasn't been doing so hot lately either. They have lost three straight but will look to end that streak against Washington Tuesday. With this short losing streak they are only a half game out of first place in their league. They shouldn't be on this losing streak for very long. Boston will be ready for this game and they should be the ones that come out on top.

Overall: Unanimous - Celtics Victory!

Wednesday Feb. 26: Phoenix Suns @ Milwaukee Bucks:
Chris Says: The 28-27 Milwaukee Bucks are fighting to keep their playoff spot in the East after making a blockbuster trade acquiring Guard Gary Payton and Forward Desmond Mason from the Sonics for Guards Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie and Ronald Murray. In their first game playing together, the Bucks beat the 35-20 Blazers at Portland. Phoenix has lost 4 of their last 5 and is 9-18 on the road. Suns Guard Stephon Marbury is averaging 28 points and 7.6 assists over his last 5 games. Bucks Guards Sam Cassell and Gary Payton combined for 38 points and 17 assists in their first and only game together. This should be a battle of the guards as well as the rookie big men; Bucks Dan Gadzuric and Suns Amare Stoudemire. The win at Portland could have been a fluke for the new Bucks, but I think it is a good sign of what's to come. Look for a Milwaukee win at home.

Lucas Says: This really shouldn't be that close of a game. The Suns are playing extremely well behind the play of Stephon Marbury, Shawn Marion, and Amare Stoudemire. The Bucks just aren't that good. They give up too many points a game and, until Gary Payton is comfortable with his new team, they don't have a real leader; Sam Cassell is too selfish, especially for a "point guard." They did improve in the trade that brought over GP and Desmond Mason; however, they just can't compete with the Suns. They don't have anyone that will be able to slow down Stoudemire, who should be the x-factor. Gary Payton is one of the best defenders in the NBA if not in the last twenty years and he should be able to lock up Starbury. Shawn Marion should have a decent game against Tim Thomas, but, with no one to stop Amare, the Suns should roll to an easy victory. Expect Amare to make a serious bid for Rookie of the Year in this one..

Overall: Split Decision

Thursday Feb. 27: Sacramento Kings @ Dallas Mavericks:
Chris Says: This is a big game as the #1 ranked Dallas Mavericks (44-12) take on the #2 ranked Sacramento Kings (38-18). Dallas has won 5 straight and is 24-4 at home, however one of the home losses came against the Kings on February 4, who were without All-Star Forward Chris Webber. The Kings have won 4 of their last 5 and hope to have Webber back on February 21. The Kings are very well-rounded with 6 players in double digit scoring in their last game, as the Mavericks had 4 players in double digits in their last game, led by Forward Dirk Nowitzki, averaging 23.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game on the season. The Kings just won at Dallas, without Webber of course, and if he returns it will take some time to get the team back into the swing of things. The Kings just might be better off without him. Look for another home win for Dallas.

Tom Says: This is the match up of the two best teams in the west. Sacramento is good when they have Chris Webber. Chris will have just returned from the injured list so he might not even be 100% yet. Dallas is a very all around team. At times they seem almost unstoppable. They are playing at home where they have only lost a total of five games. Sacramento doesn't have an outstanding road record either. So without Webber being 100% and Sacramento playing Dallas at home where they have an outstanding record, Dallas wins this close game..

Overall: Unanimous - Mavericks Victory!
